New 8BitDo Pro 2 refresh released with Hall effect joysticks and even steeper launch discounts

A few weeks have now passed since 8BitDo presented new versions of its Pro 2 wireless controller. Since then, it has introduced a similar refresh of the Ultimate 2C and announced the new Lite SE. Additionally, it has started selling translucent versions of two other 2.4 GHz wireless controllers, full coverage for which we have provided separately.

On top of that, it has quietly opened pre-orders for a third new Pro 2 option. Noticed by some our intrepid readers, it seems that 8BitDo has not mentioned the version in any recent social media posts. At any rate, the Pro 2 is also available in Translucent Purple with Hall effect joysticks.

Currently, the Translucent Purple with Hall effect joysticks variant is available for $49.99 from 8BitDo directly, a $5 launch saving just like its Transparent Blue and Jade Green counterparts. Based on the same product listing, 8BitDo will not begin fulfilling pre-orders until September 15. However, the same controller is already available on Amazon with a further $2.50 and 5% discount, thereby reducing it to $47.49. Moreover, the controller is slated to begin shipping on September 3 when ordered through Amazon. Please see Amazon's and 8BitDo's product listings for further details.
