Cardano (ADA) Chang Hard Fork Delayed Until September as Exchanges Need More Time to Prepare

The highly anticipated Cardano (ADA) Chang Hard Fork has hit a slight roadblock, leading to a delay in its August 27th launch. This critical update, which aims to integrate new governance features into the Cardano network, will now be pushed back to September.

According to the latest reports, the delay is primarily attributed to some cryptocurrency exchanges requiring additional time to prepare for the hard fork. Notably, Binance, one of the largest crypto exchanges, is yet to complete the necessary preparations.

As explained by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, the hard fork's launch depends on several factors, including the readiness of exchanges, stake pool operators (SPOs), and light node users. While a significant portion (80%) of SPOs have already prepared for the update, only 28% of exchanges have updated to the required version.

The target for exchange readiness is 85%, and once this threshold is met, a new launch date in September will be announced. Despite the delay, Hoskinson emphasized that the transition to the Voltaire era, which focuses on decentralized governance, will proceed as planned.

"Nothing is going to stop the upgrade to Voltaire. We have an elected government that has to take power. The rocket isn't leaving the pad. We just have to wait for the weather to clear," he stated in a follow-up post.

The upcoming Chang hard fork has significantly impacted Cardano's standing in the crypto market. Recently, ADA regained its position among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

To prepare for the update, Cardano (ADA) users are advised to ensure they have the latest version of the Daedalus wallet (version 6.0.0). This is crucial for continuing to operate on the network after the Chang hard fork.
