Garmin Fenix 8 smartwatches rumoured to feature larger displays than Fenix 7 predecessors thanks to design modernisation

Garmin already offers plenty of seventh-generation Fenix smartwatches, including the Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar (curr. $799.99 on Amazon). However, various sources have all but confirmed the impending arrival of the first Fenix 8 models. Based on recent leaks, the Fenix 8 series will land in 43 mm, 47 mm and 51 mm case sizes, compared to the 42 mm, 47 mm and 51 mm sizes in which the Fenix 7 is available.

In short, the Fenix 8 series broadly sticks with its predecessor's sizes, save for the new 43 mm option. Nonetheless,Gadgets & Wearablesbelieves that they will contain noticeably larger displays than the Fenix 7 series, which Garmin equipped with 1.2-inch, 1.3-inch and 1.4-inch displays for its 42 mm, 47 mm and 51 mm sizes, respectively. As far as we can tell,Gadgets & Wearablesbases its assertions on leaked promotional images, full coverage of which we have provided separately.

At any rate, comparing the images of the Fenix 8 in its 47 mm guise with the equivalent Fenix 7 reveals that the former has significantly thinner display bezels. Reportedly, the bezel reduction will yield a 0.1-inch display increase across the board, resulting in a 1.4-inch display for the 47 mm variant pictured below, plus 1.3-inch and 1.5-inch displays for its 43 mm and 51 mm siblings. Currently, Garmin is expected to release the Fenix 8 series in early September, details of which we have covered separately.
