Recently launched Tron-based memecoin generator SunPump has seen massive engagement since its August 9 launch. As of August 20, the platform has generated over $1 million, or 7 million Tron (TRX), in revenues in just 11 days. Among other milestones reached on August 20, SunPump also recorded its highest single-day revenue, collecting 2.78 TRX — around $400,000. Notably, users also created over 6,000 memecoins on the same day.

However, the high levels of engagement also caused some issues, with the SunPump website going down due to the immense traffic. Commenting on the matter via X, Sun stated, “@sunpumpmeme is experiencing unprecedented traffic. We are urgently scaling up, and the overall experience will be fully restored in 15 minutes. Thank you for your understanding!” Following this, he announced about an hour later that the platform’s services had been restored.

While a majority of the funds entering the project are organic, Sun and Tron also launched the Meme Ecosystem Boost Incentive Program, which offers $10 million to selected projects, boosting the fund flows into the memecoin generator. In turn, this liquidity is also benefitting the larger Tron blockchain ecosystem, which collected revenues of $3.84 million in the last 24 hours from the time of writing — numbers that are likely being partially impacted by SunPump.

Memecoins Still Arouse Doubt in Many

As the memecoin generator has grown to become a fixture in the Tron ecosystem, many are still not enthusiastic about memecoins in general. They feel the tokens are unreliable as more projects than not end up following the same pump-and-dump story. In fact, reports have highlighted how traders interacting with tokens on competitor Solana-based Pump Fun end up losing more money than they make.

On the contrary, Sun spoke flatteringly of memecoins, stating, “The success of meme tokens isn’t by chance. When every dev can build a community through a fair launch, gain everyone’s support, and foster enthusiasm and loyalty, the community can share in the success of the cryptocurrency.”
