Agency: Global notebook computer shipments will reach 173.65 million units in 2024

According to TrendForce’s latest research report, consumers have become more cautious in spending, and global notebook computer shipments are expected to reach 173.65 million units in 2024, an increase of 3.7% compared to 2023. The CNMO was told that this growth will be driven primarily by demand from the entry-level consumer market and the education market.

1. AI laptop market

TrendForce points out that although the industry plans to launch a number of compelling AI laptops in the second half of 2024, their high prices may cause delays in consumer purchases. Therefore, the significant contribution of AI models to the supply chain is expected to be realized by 2025. By then, driven by replacement demand in the business sector, global notebook computer shipments are expected to increase by 5% year-on-year.

2. Although Thailand is a rising star, with the close cooperation between HP and Quanta in the local area and Inventec joining the production ranks in the second half of the year, Thailand's share of global notebook computer production will rapidly grow to 2.3%.

TrendForce also predicts that the proportion of global laptop supply chain shifts will reach 12.4% in 2024. Global notebook computer production is moving in a more diversified and flexible direction.
