Xiaomi POCO Pad 5G: Xiaomi's new tablet release appears on Geekbench ahead of schedule

Xiaomi is on a roll lately when it comes to new tablet launches. In recent years, the company has primarily focused on its smartphone and wearable divisions, with its tablet offering remaining a distant third by the volume of devices released. This year though, it has introduced about half a dozen tablets, including the soon-to-be-released Redmi Pad SE 8.7.

Additionally, Xiaomi is on the verge of selling the POCO Pad 5G, initial launch details for which we have covered separately. While the 5G version of the POCO Pad is not due to arrive until August 23, the likes of GSMArena have already spotted someone benchmarking the tablet on Geekbench. So far, the tablet has only been benchmarked twice, although both share identical hardware.

Mirroring a recent Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, Geekbench reports that Xiaomi has assigned '24074PCD2I' as the tablet's model number. Additionally, it seems that the POCO Pad 5G will continue to combine a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset with 8 GB of RAM, just like the original non-cellular POCO Pad (curr. $326.50 on Amazon). Likewise, the tablet will run Android 14 out of the box overlaid with HyperOS, presumably pre-installed on 256 GB of built-in storage. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen if Xiaomi intends to offer the POCO Pad 5G globally or whether it will be exclusive to India.
