The Xiaomi Human Sensor Pro will shortly begin crowdfunding in China. The new product has appeared on Xiaomi Youpin and is designed to trigger other smart home devices based on your real-time location.
The Human Sensor Pro has a 110° wide angle and uses 24GHz mmWave radar to track the positions of up to three people. The device can detect movement up to 7 m (~23 ft) away or a stationary person up to 4 m (~13 ft) away. It can be linked to many devices with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Xiaomi HyperOS Connect and the Mijia app. For example, you could set a light above in dining space to be switched on when you sit at the table, or the air conditioning to switch on when you sit on the sofa. You can set up 12 zones for each sensor, with a minimum area of 0.5 x 0.5 m (~1.6 x 1.6 ft). The product is powered via USB-C and can be mounted one of four ways: at an angle on a wall, flush to the wall, flush to the ceilingor in a corner.
When the crowdfunding campaign launches on August 21st, the Xiaomi Human Sensor Pro will be offered in China for pledges of 349 yuan (~$49). The product is listed with a 399 yuan (~$56) RRP and is expected to ship to backers on August 28th. Whether or when the device will launch more widely in China or other markets remains to be seen.
