New Huawei blood pressure smartwatch reportedly launches in September

A couple of days ago, we reported that Huawei might be working on a new smartwatch that could be the successor to the Watch D, which launched in 2021. That wearable features a unique design with a miniature air pump and a cuff-style wristband for blood pressure measurements.

There hasn't been any word from Huawei about the Watch D2 ever since, but a Weibo tipster @UncleKanshan revealed a screenshot from the National Medical Products Administration database, which was said to be linked to the smartwatch. Per the shared picture, the new blood pressure watch will feature the same cuff-style wristband with a built-in airbag.

As we previously noted, the same model numbers present in that screenshot were also found in the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) database. That revealed the wearable would also have other features that you find in regular smartwatches, such as fitness and activity tracking.

Now, @UncleKanshan reports that the new Huawei blood pressure smartwatch will launch on September 24. The launch timeline predicted by the Weibo tipster matches the company's Autumn conference held last year. Of course, in 2023, the event took place on September 25, but @UncleKanshan says that Huawei likes to hold conferences on Tuesdays, which is why he predicts September 24 for the 2024 Autumn conference.

There's still no word on what the pricing of the Huawei Watch D2 will be like, but the first blood pressure smartwatch launched at €399 (43 mm Galaxy Watch 6 Classic curr. $329.99 on Amazon). Another thing to note is that the first-gen watch was released across Europe, so the newer model may also land in markets outside China.
