Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy said that as a part of the hidden pact between the DMK and BJP, Chief Minister MK Stalin's party agreed to participate in Governor's high tea for Independence Day in return for the BJP taking part in the coin release ceremony.

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has alleged a 'hidden pact' between the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the coin release for M Karunanidhi's Centenary Year.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy claimed that the DMK agreed to participate in the Governor's high tea for Independence Day as part of the pact, while the BJP participated in the coin release ceremony.

"DMK announced that it will not take part in High Tea. But when Annamalai said that he would take part in the coin release function and asked DMK to take part in high tea, immediately, Stalin participated while DMK released a statement claiming that he was representing the Tamil Nadu Government and not DMK. Isn’t this funny as Stalin is the Head of DMK and Duraimurugan, who is the General Secretary of DMK participated. So, this is only showing the 'two-faces' of the party. This only shows their relationship," Palanisamy said in a briefing to the media in Salem.

"I’ve said this many times. It was being said that there was a secret relationship between DMK and BJP, even our administrators were saying so. Now the media has also started to raise this question. So it has come to light that the BJP and DMK have a secret relationship," Palaniswamy added.

An X post by AIADMK's IT cell also stated, "Tamil Nadu BJP state president said we are attending the coin launch ceremony and you attend the Governor's tea party and the DMK left the boycott decision and participated in the party. DMK is a party playing a double role. DMK's secret relationship with BJP is evident from this."
