WhatsApp prepares a new feature to customize chat appearance

WhatsApp got a number of new features in the past few months, including some that are AI-powered, and it seems Meta isn't done updating the app. In the latest beta version of the app, there's a new option that lets you change the chat themes. Found in the Android beta 2.24.17.19of the app, it will likely enter the stable builds soon.

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time WhatsApp has allowed users to modify the chats' appearance. With one of the versions released in 2020, Meta introduced Dark Theme, which makes the app less stressful for the eyes at night. However, additional chat themes similar to those available on Facebook Messenger and Instagram weren't available.

That's basically where the 2.24.17.19 beta version steps in, allowing users to select a wide range of plain colors to change the color of the text bubble. As pointed out WeBetaInfo, these colored themes will also change the appearance of the wallpaper.

Worth noting that this level of customization to the chats isn't similar to what Metaoffers for Messenger and Instagram. It currently applies customization to all the chats, but a future update could allow users to set a different theme for individual chats.

Another thing worth mentioning is that WeBetaInfo has found a similar feature on iOS beta version 24.11.10.70. This means the iOS version of WhatsApp will also get it with a future stable update.
