Fortnite returns to iPhone, but not for all users

Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store in August 2020 after Epic Games introduced a new payment method for in-game items. This method would've made the company avoid the hefty 30% fee for each in-app purchase, and the Cupertino giant didn't want to miss out on that.

To fill you in, prior to the removal, Fortnite on iPhone made Epic Games over $700 million throughout the two-year period. Apple has collected over $100 millionin revenue from this.

Now, after four years of absence, the game has officially returned to iOS, but it's not available to all iPhone users. It's currently only available through the Epic Games Store in the EU, which came to be only because of the regulatory changes forced by the EU Digital Markets Act. This act has forced Apple to allow alternative app stores too.

On the note of alternate app stores, Epic Games is also bringing its mobile games to independent stores, which include AltStore PAL. The company plans to make its titles available on the Aptioid iOS store as well. In a blog post, Epic further says that it will work to bring its games to "other stores around the world."

As for installing the Epic Games Store on iPhone, the QR code found on the official websitewill take you to the install page. The company also has a video guide (attached below) that walks you through the steps. However, note that you need to have iOS 17.6 or later installed on your iPhone. Besides Fortnite, the store also has Rocket League Sideswipe and Fall Guys for mobile.
