Red Dead Redemption was released in May 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, later followed by versions for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, the latter two not until August 2023.
While Red Dead Redemption 2 is also available for Windows on Steam, the first part of the hit series still cannot be played on a gaming computer outside of emulators. This is likely to change soon: after a developer discovered references to Red Dead Redemptionin the source code of the Rockstar Launcher, the following text was added to the game's official page in the PlayStation Store:
Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever.
The corresponding line of text was removed within a few hours, but it shows that Rockstar Games is already preparing marketing texts for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption. If Rockstar Games proceeds in exactly the same way as with last year's port for the PlayStation 4, the game could be released for $49.99 and not receive any major changes or updates.
After all, the newer version already includes the popular zombie expansion Undead Nightmare. The contents of the "Game of the Year" edition are also included, including additional characters and locations for multiplayer mode. It is not yet known whether the PC version will receive support for ultra-wide monitors, higher resolutions, DLSS, unlocked frame rates or HDR monitors.
