Manufacturer claims AMD Radeon 890M can beat Intel Lunar Lake Arc 140V iGPU in Time Spy

The GPD Pocket 4 is now official, and it is positioned to be the first handheld PC featuring an AMD Strix Point processor. While the Pocket product line doesn't target gamers, GPD did showcase what the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 inside the handheld is capable of offering.

Interestingly, in the part where GPD compared the performance of the Radeon 890M iGPU, the manufacturer brought up an unreleased Lunar Lake processor, the Intel Core Ultra 7 268V. According to the company, the iGPU of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 will offer comparatively better performance than the Arc 140V in 3DMark Time Spy.

More specifically, at 45W TDP, the Radeon 890M is shown to score 3,647 points, while the Arc 140V is said to achieve 3438 points. This equates to a roughly 6% lead for the RDNA 3.5 iGPUof the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. On the bright side, the company's data does show that the Lunar Lake iGPU will be better than the last-gen Radeon 780M.

Worth mentioning that the company has tested the Radeon 890M in another of its Strix Point products, the GPD DUO, which is a laptop. The Pocket 4, on the other hand, is said to be a 28W TDP device.

Another thing that's worth noting is that the shared Intel Arc 140V 3DMark Time Spy score matches with a recent leak from Jaykihn, but the leaker mentioned that the matching score was obtained by running in 17W. At 30W TDP, Jaykihn shares that the iGPU can achieve 4,151 points.

This suggests that Jaykihn's performance metrics were likely flawed or that GPD is possibly comparing the Radeon 890M with an unconfirmed Lunar Lake performance figure. Regardless, this comparison shared by the company should be taken with a pinch of salt. The good part is that the next-gen Intel lineup is still scheduled for a September 3 launch, so we don't need to wait long to get a broader picture.
