MediaTek ARM PC processor, rumored to be co-developed with Nvidia, will reportedly launch in H1 2025

In May, analyst Dan Nystedt reported that Nvidia is working with MediaTek to co-develop an ARM AI PC processor, targeting the Snapdragon X Elite CPUs. A new report from Chinese media Mydrivers now claims that this new chip will be officially launched in the first half of 2025.

The Chinese media adds that the new AI ARM processor from MediaTek and Nvidia will enter the verification stage in Q4 of this year. This info matches with the report from Dan Nystedt. Dan said that the ARM CPU would get its design finalized by Q3 and enter verification in Q4.

Per the rumors, MediaTek was expected to share information about this Nvidia co-developed ARM PC chipset at Computex 2024, but none of the companies revealed anything about it. So, there's no official word on how well it may compete against the Snapdragon X Elite processors.

However, past reports did suggest that the AI ARM processor would be manufactured on TSMC's 3nm process. If Nvidia is actually co-developing the CPU, it's safe to assume that we will see a capable iGPU. That would make things quite interesting, especially with how the AMD RDNA 3.5 integrated graphicsis currently dominating the space.

Moreover, the Chinese media reports that industry insiders expect the MediaTek ARM PC chip to deliver high performance with comparatively lower power consumption than its competitors. The price is also expected to be relatively lower than that of the competing processors (Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x with Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100 curr. $999.99 on Best Buy).
