Vecow has introduced its TGS-1000 series of mini PCs with support for stackable expansion options for networking, wireless mobility, and much more. The lineup includes two models - TGS-1000, and TGS-1500, mainly targeted at the scientific and industrial crowd, especially for edge AI applications. The larger TGS-1500 model offers support for fairly powerful discrete GPUs necessary for acceptable on-device AI performance.

Powered by up to the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H processor with up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, the system promises decent performance. Discrete graphics are only offered on the TGS-1500 variant, thanks to MXM modules, up to the RTX 5000 Ada. Intel's Arc 370M can also be utilized, but needless to say, the Ada cards from Nvidia will offer far superior AI performance. The TGS-000, on the other hand, will have to rely on the Core Ultra 5/7's integrated graphics.

As for connectivity, the options are plenty. TheTGS-1000/1500features support for up to three independent displays, utilizing two HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs for the TGS-1500 variant with MXM modules, and one DisplayPort 1.4 by USB Type-C for the TGS-1000 variant. Both variants include a versatile range of I/O connections, such as two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A and 1 USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C ports, and a single 2.5GbE LAN port with TSN support. Should that not suffice, both the variants offer support for stackable modules, which have been listed below:

  • TGS-101: 16-bit GPIO - 'General Purpose Input/Output'
  • TGS-102: 16-bit Isolated DIO (8 DI, 8 DO) - 'Digital Input/Output'
  • TGS-104: 2 Isolated COM RS-232/422/485- Serial communication ports
  • TGS-105: Dual USB 3.0
  • TGS-106: Dual 1G LAN
  • TGS-107: 4G Module with SIM Socket

There is no word on pricing yet, but considering the specifications and the target audience, theTGS-1000 and TGS-1500from Vecow are expected to command a substantial price tag. For a more consumer-focussed affordable mini PC, check out the Ryzen 7-powered Beelink SER7 (currently $599 on Amazon)
