Leaked Nintendo Switch 2 documents reinforce performance leap as power and cooling requirements skyrocket

We recently reported on a Nintendo Switch 2 leak that claims the second-generation handheld gaming console will see a significant performance jump, matching the Valve Steam Deck. Now, a new leak from a user on the Famiboards forum purports to show a shipping manifest for the Steam Deck 2, revealing significantly higher power consumption and potentially validating the earlier performance claims.

In the leaked documentation, there is mention of a 60 W charging brick and an accessory cooling solution shipping as standard with the Nintendo Switch 2. For reference, the original Switch only ships with a 39 W charger in the box, making the new charging solution nearly 54% more powerful than the original.

This more powerful power brick isn't necessarily an indicator of the overall system power of the Switch 2, since the original Switch only reportedly consumes around 18 W out of that 39 W ceiling. However, the power brick power output increase in combination with the supposed active cooling in the accessory stand indicates that the hybrid console may draw significantly more power — even if that is just while connected to an external display.

As it stands, the original Switch Dock (curr. $69.98 on Amazon) only supplies the Switch with more power and adds addition I/O ports, but it does not cool it. Current leaked information about the Switch 2 indicated that its faster SoC would be hamstrung by software, so it's possible that the active cooling in the dock will help the Switch output higher resolutions and frame rates when in docked mode, allowing it to draw even more power than its predecessor.
