MagicX has begun testing its upcoming handheld devices, the XU Mini 2, Touch One, and Touch Two, as revealed in an exclusive video on the Retro Handhelds Discord. The company very recently unveiled the XU Mini M in July 2024, and is reportedly working on the upcoming MagicX XU HD handheld as well.
The XU Mini 2, as seen in the video, has a compact vertical design with designated areas for joystick controls. In contrast, the Touch One and Touch Two adopt a horizontal layout, like the classic Game Boy Advance, with the Touch One expected to feature a 3:2, 3.5-inch IPS display at a 980 x 640 resolution, powered by an Allwinner A523 processor (two quad-core clusters, each made up of 4 Cortex-A55 cores) running Android. For reference, the XU Mini M is equipped with a Rockchip RK3562 processor (4 cores/threads) and a clock speed of 2.0 GHz.
The Touch Two, on the other hand, offers a 4-inch, 720 x 720 IPS display, also running on an Allwinner A523 chipset with 2GB of RAM. This model will likely compete with handhelds like theRGB30and the recently launchedZPG A1 Unicorn.
MagicX has yet to finalize the details of these devices, and changes could occur as development progresses. The company has a history of quietly releasing their handhelds. The XU Mini 2, Touch One and Touch Two are expected to be available by the end of the year, though a specific date remains unconfirmed.
