Thumby Color launches as pocket-sized retro gaming handheld with Game Boy Advance looks for $49

TinyCircuits has released any miniature device, just under two years after introducing the TinyTV 2 and TinyTV Mini. This time, it has returned to gaming handhelds with the Thumby Color, a successor to the Thumby from almost three years ago.

For context, TinyCircuits styled the Thumby after the original Game Boy. However, while the Thumby Color represents a generational upgrade from the Thumby, it resembles the Game Boy Advance rather than the Game Boy Color. For example, TinyCircuits has equipped the Thumby Color with a colour display, as its name suggests.

Specifically, the Thumby Color relies upon an IPS panel that measures 0.85-inches across while delivering a 128 x 128-pixel native resolution. Moreover, TinyCircuits has based the Thumby Color around the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 (RP2350), a microcontroller and successor to theRaspberry Pi Pico(curr. $15.59 on Amazon)that the Raspberry Pi Foundation announcedearlier this week.
