After waiting patiently for eight months, Cybertruck reservation holders in Canada and Mexico are finally getting a memo that they will be able to configure their Cyberbeast or AWDCybertruck models to order.
The Cybertruck price in Canada starts from CA$137,990 for the dual-motor AWD trim, and that is about the equivalent price in US dollars.
When all the taxes are taken into account, however, including the federal levy on luxury items, the base Cybertruck pricing in Canada can quickly shoot up to more than $120,000 in US dollars, or more than US$160,000 for the tri-motor Cyberbeast Foundation Series trim.
Back in 2021, the Canadian government introduced a new luxury tax for those who splurge on expensive cars, boats, planes, and their modifications. It targets planes and passenger vehicles that cost more than CA$100,000, or boats priced above CA$250,000.
Unfortunately, even the base Cybertruck goes over that limit, so depending on their province of residence, its buyers in Canada will have to pay between CA$165,000 and CA$175,000 for the dual-motor version with all the levies applied.
Elon Musk has now reiterated that Tesla is trying to bring the Cybertruck price down, after pegging a 20% manufacturing cost reduction as achievable in 2025 during Tesla's annual shareholder presentation.
