MediaTek officially releases the Helio G100 chipset with 200MP camera sensor support

Eight days after Tecno unveiled the Camon 30S Pro equipped with the all-new MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, MediaTek has now introduced the same chipset, but more officially.Built on TSMC's advanced 6nm process, the chip will likely cater to the mid-range smartphone market.

At the core of the Helio G100 is an octa-core CPU comprising two Arm Cortex-A76 performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores operating at 2.0GHz. The integrated Arm Mali-G57-class GPU delivers graphics. While its predecessor, the MediaTek Helio G99, supports up to 108MP camera sensors, the G100 supports up to 200MP main camera sensors for high-res photography and improved low-light image quality. Additional camera features include hardware dual camera support, lossless in-sensor zoom, and advanced image processing algorithms. Considering both chips share most of their specs, camera-based upgrades seem to be the most significant changes in the new MediaTek chip.

The Helio G100 also incorporates MediaTek's Intelligent Display Sync technology, allowing for smoother scrolling and animations on high-refresh-rate displays while optimizing power consumption. To further enhance the gaming experience, MediaTek's HyperEngine technology claims to manage CPU, GPU, and memory resources for sustained performance and reduced frame drops.

In terms of connectivity, the chipset supports Cat-13 LTE with features like 4x4 MIMO, 256QAM, and dual 4G SIM. The "Elevator Mode" claims to provide seamless network transitions when users move in and out of spaces lacking cell coverage.
