According to news from this website on August 8, CORSAIR, one of the important retail power supply suppliers, announced yesterday (local time) that its power supply products will be fully transferred to the certification system of Cybenetics Labs in the future and will no longer provide 80 PLUS certification.
Corsair believes that Cybenetics’ ETA conversion efficiency test is more detailed than 80 PLUS, with more than a thousand load combinations far richer than 80 PLUS (note on this site: the measurement points of 80 PLUS are only single digits), and can be more accurate It reflects the performance of the power supply under actual usage conditions.
In addition, the Cybenetics energy efficiency rating system includes Diamond, the highest level, which requires the power supply to achieve a conversion efficiency of 93% at rated power. It is more stringent than Titanium, the highest level of 80 PLUS, and puts forward higher requirements for future top power supplies.
And the Cybenetics certification system not only includes conversion efficiency certification, but also LAMBDA noise certification. Cybenetics rates power supplies from a nearly silent A++ to a noisy F based on acoustic performance, a rating that's important for users considering building a quiet PC.
All power supplies released by Corsair in recent years have both 80 PLUS and Cybenetics certifications. Future products will only provide Cybenetics energy efficiency and noise ratings.
