Cryptocurrency was conceived, at least in part, as a response to excessive government spending. Now, some of Wall Street's biggest names are piling into bitcoin and other digital assets.
This begs the question: If bitcoin is a reaction to poor monetary and fiscal policy, and if Wall Street is now fully engaged with crypto, are we missing something here?
Melker and Divine discussed this topic in a recent conversation at The Bitcoin Conference in Miami.
Melker, host of The Wolf Of All Streets Podcast, began the conversation by highlighting a paradox. Many people got into bitcoin because of its sound money principles and to escape the pitfalls of the traditional financial system, especially those related to excessive money printing and poor fiscal policy.
"Now, bitcoin has brought some of the biggest names on Wall Street into the fold," said Melker. "If we're not addressing the core issues—like poor monetary and fiscal policy—then aren't we missing the forest for the trees here?"
