Is it true that iPhone 16 Pro/Max supports Wi-Fi 7?

DigiTimes published a blog post yesterday (July 30), stating that Apple’s two flagships, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, will support Wi-Fi 7 networks. The other two models support Wi-Fi 6E networks.

Note: Wi-Fi 7 is the next generation Wi-Fi standard. Based on Wi-Fi 6, it introduces 320MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM, Multi-RU, multi-link operation, enhanced MU-MIMO, and multi-AP collaboration and other technologies.

Wi-Fi 7 provides higher data transfer rates and lower latency. The peak theoretical data transfer speed will exceed 40 Gbps, which is 4 times higher than Wi-Fi 6E.

In addition, Wi-Fi 7 has three communication bands like Wi-Fi 6E, including a 2.4GHz low-frequency band, and two high-frequency bands of 5GHz and 6GHz.

If Apple really upgrades the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to support Wi-Fi 7, users will need to additionally upgrade their routers to enjoy the ultimate transmission speed.
