According to this site’s news on August 2, Intel’s Thomas Hannaford issued a statement today stating that it will extend the warranty for Intel’s 13th/14th generation Core processors affected by instability issues for an additional 2 years.
This site translates part of Intel’s statement as follows:
For customers who experience unstable symptoms using the 13th/14th generation desktop Core processors, Intel maintains smooth exchange channels to ensure that all previous or current Affected users will receive support.
We have further improved product support and extended the 2-year warranty for boxed Intel Core 13th and 14th generation desktop processors. More details will be announced later.
Intel’s boxed CPUs already have a three-year limited warranty, so this change means most affected CPUs will now have a five-year warranty.
In July this year, Intel responded to the stability issues of the 13th/14th generation Core desktop processors and confirmed that the excessive operating voltage was caused by a microcode algorithm that sent an incorrect voltage request to the processor. It is expected to be released soon. A microcode patch was released in mid-August to fix the fundamental problem caused by excessive voltage.
