2. Two police departments in Missouri are participating in a pilot project to integrate the Z Flip into daily law enforcement work, marking the first time a foldable phone has been used as a police body camera.
3. Subsequently, two more police stations joined the project.
4. Samsung collaborated with Visual Labs to customize the phone to suit police needs.
5. Customized modifications include remapping the external volume keys as emergency recording start keys, and automatically starting recording when a vehicle is being chased or police lights are turned on.
6. Recorded videos can be instantly uploaded to the cloud via Visual Labs’ software.

Samsung said that the folding design of the Z Flip series mobile phones makes it easy to carry and fix on police uniforms, and can clearly record arrests and other interaction details, improving evidence collection and transparency. In addition to being a law enforcement recorder, it can also be used to:

2. Audio evidence collection
3. Locate the location of police officers through GPS

Currently, this solution has been extended to 25 cities in five states police station. Samsung said it will continue to work on providing relevant tools to more U.S. police departments.

Visual Labs has also partnered with T-Mobile to provide law enforcement with an Android smartphone body camera solution.
