Steam Deck to get native 1200p screen support via an upcoming patch

Most Windows-based gaming handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go launched with 1080p screens. The Steam Deck, on the other hand, sticks to a modest 800p panel, but you can upgrade that to 1200p via DeckHD, a third-party IPS panel that you can install on the console. A commit on Steam Deck's official Github page (H/T Tom's Hardware) stated native 1200p support might arrive soon via a software update. It was written by a developer who goes by balika011. Therefore, we can expect to see the feature roll out via a future SteamOS update, much to the delight of DeckHD owners.

However, running your Steam Deck at 1200p could result in some games not performing as well. Steam Deck optimizations are done with an 800p resolution in mind, and running some titles, especially demanding ones, might not yield optimal results because the Steam Deck's Zen 2 APU is far weaker than the Ryzen Z1 Extreme found on other Windows-based handhelds.
