Strix Halo is an ultra-high-end product positioned as AMD's new "Ultimate APU". It has both powerful CPU performance and impressive GPU capabilities. It will have the same number of cores as the Ryzen 9000 series "Granite Ridge". It is also equipped with a discrete-level integrated graphics card, which is expected to attract many enthusiasts.

Kraken Point is AMD’s new generation of low-power APU, designed to replace Hawk Point (Ryzen 8040 series) processors.

AMD has now officially confirmed Strix Halo, but Krackan still hasn’t received an official name, it’s listed as GFX1152 in the graphics driver. This also means that it will become the third APU to use AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture, following the GFX1150 (Strix Point) and GFX1151 (Strix Halo).

According to the current known information, the new Strix Halo series processors will have up to 16 Zen5 large cores and up to 40 RDNA 3.5 computing units, with the goal of completely eliminating low-end graphics cards, at least on AMD platforms.

Correspondingly, Krackan is only an 8-core processor with 4 Zen5 and 4 Zen5c cores and only 8 computing units. It is expected that it will become the Van Gogh APU (Note from this site: used for Steam Deck) Excellent successor.

According to the leaked roadmap, both APUs will use XDNA2 like Strix Point and are scheduled to be released in 2025, so stay tuned.
