Good morning everyone!

I am very happy to have the opportunity to discuss new developments and trends in industry and technology with you. Today, when artificial intelligence is rapidly changing all aspects of industry, life and even society, it is particularly important to pay attention to the general trends and new directions of technology.

At last year’s forum, everyone was still discussing the experimental results and application prospects of “game + AI”. In just one year, AI has left the laboratory and officially started work, becoming an indispensable new productivity today. A small detail is that on the open source community GitHub alone, there will be 60,000 artificial intelligence open source projects released in 2023, 3.5 times the number in 2022.

Today, our country is already a leader in the field of global artificial intelligence research. The game industry has always been recognized as the best testing ground for AI technology and the earliest outpost to perceive and adapt to the impact of AI. Taking NetEase as an example, we are currently using artificial intelligence technology to improve work efficiency in many key aspects such as speech generation, original painting generation, motion capture, and model generation.

We believe that the next step to consider is how to fully unleash the potential of AI and share AI dividends with more industries and even the whole society?

Here, I would like to combine some observations and NetEase’s practice in the past year to share and discuss with you around three aspects.

First, the quality and efficiency improvements brought by AI are expected to become a way for the game industry to break away from traditional growth constraints and development paths, breaking the long-standing "impossible triangle".

The game industry, especially the Chinese game industry where everyone is engaged in ongoing online games, has the highest level of industrialization, interactivity, and real-time requirements among all content production industries. Therefore, this also creates an "impossible triangle": it is difficult to satisfy cost, quality, and efficiency at the same time. Usually a team of several hundred people spends several months producing content that may be consumed by players in just two weeks.

But the emergence of AI has brought us a new idea - by "open source" AI to players, players can better integrate into the entire game ecosystem, form positive feedback, and also expand the UGC content section. We believe that in this way, the transformation from PGC dominance to PGC+UGC dual-line parallelization can be achieved, thereby alleviating the problem of content output.

In this regard, we have made many attempts based on AI technologies such as intelligent voice, animation, and NLP in products such as "Egg Party" and "Nishuihan" mobile games.

For example, "Egg Party", which is famous for UGC content creation, is using AIGC to attract and help more players to complete the "advanced" process from participating in creation to falling in love with creation and becoming proficient in creation. The "Impossible Triangle" in the game industry is being broken. We believe that when massive content emerges with the help of AI, how to control the quality of content and continue to produce high-quality products and even classics will be an important focus in the second half.
Second, AI is not only "self-produced and sold" in the game industry, but also requires us to build a cross-domain ecosystem, accelerate the penetration and implementation of AI in thousands of industries, and create greater technical energy.
We have seen a survey and found that 62% of game practitioners around the world are using AI tools to produce game content. But we hope to see that AI can help humans solve real-world problems more efficiently through the test of the small world of games, and free up productivity to devote themselves to higher-quality and more creative undertakings.
This year, we released our first robot brand "Lingdong", which is also our first answer sheet in the AI ​​industrial field and the combination of software and hardware.
"Lingdong" is a robot brand created by NetEase Fuxi based on self-developed industrial models and AOP technology ideas.
