Former US president and Republican candidate Donald Trump, and MicroStrategy’s co-founder and Chairman, Michael Saylor, were among the renowned industry leaders.

The Bitcoin 2024 also saw pro-crypto politicians like Donald Trump in attendance.

Former US president Donald Trump has urged people to “keep your Bitcoin” as the US government will become the “crypto capital” under his leadership.

Speaking at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Miami on 21 June, Trump, who is running for the presidency again in 2024, discussed a wide range of topics, including cryptocurrencies and the upcoming election.

The Republican candidate touched on the topic of cryptocurrencies, highlighting his administration’s role in advancing digital assets and promising to continue supporting the industry if re-elected.

Trump mentioned the seizure of 200,000 BTC by the US government, an event that occurred during the Trump administration. The BTC was confiscated as part of the Silk Road investigation and subsequent auction.

According to Trump, he was offered the opportunity to sell the BTC, but he declined, stating that the cryptocurrency is “going to be worth a fortune.”

“They wanted me to sell the Bitcoin. I said, ‘Keep your Bitcoin. We’re going to be the crypto capital,'” Trump said during his speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference.

The former president’s comments come amid growing interest in cryptocurrencies from both the public and the government.

Recently, several candidates running for the presidency have expressed support for cryptocurrencies, with some even proposing specific policies to regulate the industry.

As reported by CoinGape, the former president’s campaign has also set up a Bitcoin (BTC) advisory council, which includes industry leaders like MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor and Thiel Capital CEO Eric Weinstein.

The council will reportedly advise Trump on crypto-related matters and help him develop a vision for the future of digital assets in the United States.
