Coinbase is adding Chris Lehane to its board. He serves as an exec at artificial intelligence (AI) startup OpenAI. Investors will also note that Lehane was an aide to former President Bill Clinton.

Coinbase is bolstering its board to help gain more support from the U.S. government. The company is also expanding its board to include more members that can better handle dealings with regulators.

COIN Stock: More Board Members

Another addition to the board is Paul Clement. He served as the U.S. Solicitor General under former President George W. Bush. His addition shows that Coinbase is looking to gain bipartisan support from former government officials.

Rounding out the latest additions to the Coinbase board is Christa Davies. She serves as the CFO of Aeon (NYSE:AEON) and is a board member at Stripe and Workday (NASDAQ:WDAY). These new additions bring the total number of directors on the COIN board to 10.

COIN stock is up 6.2% as of Friday morning. Notably, the stock is also up 56.7% year-to-date.
