According to news from this website on July 11, CMOS image sensor supplier SweetSmart announced today the launch of new ultra-small size global shutter image sensors SC038MPC (0.3MP) and SC020MPC (0.16MP) for laptops and tablets.
Both new products adopt SmartGSTM-2 Plus technology, which is suitable for perception cameras of AI PC devices and can meet human presence detection (Human Presence Detection), standby always-on (Always-On), and intelligent face recognition Image capture needs of other functions.

According to reports, SC038MPC and SC020MPC are equipped with SmartSite's patented Lightbox IR near-infrared enhancement technology. The peak quantum efficiency (peak QE) of SC020MPC can reach 95%. It is said to have quantum efficiency in the 850nm and 940nm near-infrared bands. The efficiency is improved by about 10% and 5% compared with similar products.
The implementation of functions such as human presence detection and standby always-on requires the background support of the sensing camera. SC038MPC and SC020MPC adopt an ultra-low power consumption design. Taking SC020MPC as an example, its power consumption is as low as 48.4mW (240fps).
In terms of specific specifications, the package size of SC038MPC is about 2.73mm×2.28mm, and the package size of SC020MPC is about 1.78mm×1.78mm. They can be used as perception camera image sensors, paired with SmartSite’s released PC main camera application image sensor SC521PC (5MP) and SC200PC (2MP), which together form a complete image sensor solution for the AI PC device vision system.
