Amazon’s Road House remake swung onto screens on Thursday, and this rendition of Patrick Swayze’s cult classic has taken things beachside.
Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the star-studded cast of its upcoming Road House remake, which is set to hit screens this year.
Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Southpaw) will lead the film as Elwood Dalton, a middle-weight UFC fighter turned bouncer who is hired to clean up the act of a roadhouse in Glass Key, a fictional Florida Key town “just south of Marathon”.
Conor McGregor (Notorious) will also feature in the film, alongside Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Hannah Love Lanier (Black Cake), Travis Van Winkle (You), B.K. Cannon (Why Women Kill), Arturo Castro (Broad City), Dominique Columbus (Ray Donovan), Beau Knapp (The Nice Guys) and Bob Menery (The Bob Menery Podcast).
Patrick Swayze starred in the original 1989 Road House film, which was set in Missouri and shot across California.
Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) will direct the remake from a script by Anthony Bagarozzi (The Nice Guys) and Charles Mondry (The Nice Guys).
The original Road House film followed Dalton as he arrived in Jasper, Missouri to work as a bouncer at the Double Deuce bar.
He soon discovers that the bar is a front for a money-laundering operation run by local businessman Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara).
Dalton teams up with Wade Garrett (Sam Elliott), the Double Deuce’s original bouncer, to take on Wesley and his men.
The film was a critical and commercial failure upon its release, but it has since gained a cult following.
The Road House remake is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video later this year.
