Freres' career spanned nearly four decades and he was inducted into the Pinball Expo Hall of Fame back in 2004.
Stern Pinball has announced the retirement of art director Greg Freres, who will be succeeded by Sebastian Napoli.
Freres, who has been with Stern Pinball for nearly four decades, was inducted into the Pinball Expo Hall of Fame in 2004. He is perhaps best known for his iconic artwork on the Elvira pinball trilogy.
“Greg's pinball artwork continues to be celebrated for its innovation, humor, and meticulous attention to detail,” said a statement from Stern Pinball.
Freres said: “It has been an incredible journey filled with creativity and camaraderie. I am immensely thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to bring joy to so many through my artwork.”
Napoli, who will now take over the role of art director at Stern Pinball, has more than 15 years of experience in creative design.
He was most recently the creative director for Popskull and Havas, and also has experience working with brands such as Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Universal.
Napoli, who was educated at The Art Institutes, will now “contribute and lead a fresh perspective and energy to help continue creating the most beautiful pinball machines in the world,” said Stern Pinball.
