TikTok users are being urged to check their spare change as there are rare coins out there that could fetch a fortune at auction.

And you don't need to be an expert to spot them – as an expert issued his top advice online.

TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard, who has 143,000 followers thanks to his money advice, shared the three coins you should never disregard.

If you put them up at auction, they could end up making you a fortune.

He said: "The 1905 Half Crown from the UK with only 166,008 ever made, you can easily grab between £450 and £10,000 depending on the condition.

"The 1933 One Penny, the rarity makes it highly sought after by collectors and its scarcity contributes significantly to its market value.

"If you happen to have a 1933 UK penny in your possession, then you are 100% rich as this can easily sell for over £100,000."

The money guru concluded by describing the 1983 New Pence Two Pence, which is valuable due to a specific transition in the design of the coin.

He explained: "In 1983, the Royal Mint began the process of changing the inscription of the two pence coin from new pence to two pence. If you find this rare coin you are looking at £1,000 plus."

People were very appreciative of the advice – as the clip has garnered more than 700 likes and plenty of comments since it was posted.

One commenter boasted: "I have these coins," while another commented: "I have so many coins to sell." Alright for some!
