Arc Battlemage: Leaks hints at three GPUs for Intel's next-generation gaming graphics cards

Intel's next-generation GPU architecture is expected to launch in September as part of Intel Lunar Lake. Like the Arc Alchemist iGPU from Meteor Lake, the iGPU has up to 8 Xe cores, but the new architecture is expected to achieve 50% higher performance with comparable power consumption.

The new architecture may also come onto the market in the form of dedicated laptop GPUs and desktop graphics cards by the end of this year. Leaker @harukaze5719has just discovered two of these graphics cards in an import database, while an entry in Intel's Design Tools Store, which has since been removed, describes a BMG-G31 prototype.

So far, information on the following three Battlemage chips has been leaked:

  • Intel Arc Battlemage BMG-G31 – 32 Xe2 cores
  • Intel Arc Battlemage BMG-G21
  • Intel Arc Battlemage BMG-G10 (X3) – 56 Xe2 cores / 16 GB GDDR6

According to leaker Bionic_Squash, Intel's next-generation high-end GPU, the BMG-G10, will not be launched onto the market as Intel will continue to focus on the entry-level and mid-range market. If the previous leaks are correct, the BMG-G31 chip is a variant with 32 Xe2 cores, so depending on the clock rates, this graphics card should achieve more than four times the performance of the iGPU from Lunar Lake.

This is by no means enough to compete with flagships such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090,but similarly to the Intel Arc A750 ($199.99 at Amazon), Intel may focus on an interesting price-performance ratio in the lower mid-range for the next generation, which is neglected by Nvidia, as even the cheapest GeForce RTX 4000 graphics card currently costs almost $300.
