Powkiddy has released one retro gaming handheld this week, full details of which we have covered separately. However, the Powkiddy V10 will not be joined by the so-called 'K56', a device leaked nearly two weeks ago as a quasi-X55 successor (curr. $109.96 on Amazon). To recap, Retro Handhelds shared a photo showing an unreleased device in which it claimed that Powkiddy was 'reportedly making a Helio G99-powered handheld called the K56'.
Unfortunately, the website decided against sharing the source for the image provided. Instead, it reproduced the image without attribution, preventing anyone from checking its authenticity in the process. Retro Handhelds since reached out to Powkiddy though, to which it posted the subsequent update on X (formerly Twitter):
Update on the K56. PowKiddy has stated this is not a real device, likely a fake according to our source.
Moreover, the website updated its article by adding that Powkiddy confirmed 'that the K56 is not an actual device that’s in development'. Ultimately, it seems strange that Retro Handhelds has not shared a direct quote from Powkiddy that would have clarified matters. Either way, any suggestion that Powkiddy had created the image below appears wide of the mark.
