According to news from this site on June 28, MSI announced yesterday, local time, that after receiving feedback from users, it will provide firmware update support for the two monitors MAG 321UPX QD-OLED and MAG 271QPX QD-OLED.
MSI also promises that all future MAG QD-OLED displays will have firmware update capabilities.
MSI has previously launched a pair of QD-OLED gaming monitors in 27-inch WQHD and 32-inch UHD specifications, belonging to the lower MAG and higher MPG series respectively. There is no difference in display parameters between high and low configurations.
However, the two low-end versions of MAG 321UPX QD-OLED and MAG 271QPX QD-OLED are not equipped with USB Type-B interfaces, and MSI initially claimed that these two models cannot be updated with firmware.
MSI officials explained on Reddit that based on what the MSI team has learned, firmware update capabilities are not the focus of consumers' attention, and some users may accept castration in this regard in exchange for lower prices.
So MSI has launched a pair of display products based on the same QD-OLED display panel to meet the needs of different users.
However, after users expressed strong opinions, MSI finally provided firmware update support for MAG 321UPX QD-OLED and MAG 271QPX QD-OLED.
This site has learned that the MAG 271QPX QD-OLED display with firmware version FW.012 or higher, and the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED with firmware version FW.015 or higher, already have the firmware update function.
If the monitor firmware in the user's hands is lower than the above version, he/she needs to contact the service outlet for firmware upgrade to obtain the independent firmware function.
