Garmin releases new beta build for Fenix 7 and other smartwatches with improvements for all but Pro models

Garmin is testing another software build for Enduro 2, Epix 2, Fenix 7, Marq 2 and Quatix 7 owners. For context, v17.23 remains the most recent stable update for the Fenix 7 (curr. $549.99 on Amazon) and its peers. However, Beta Program participants recently had the opportunity to try v17.26 before its changes get rolled into an eventual future stable update.

In summary, Garmin claimed that Beta Version 17.26 addressed an outstanding bug that prevented Daily Suggested Workouts from working as intended. Now, the company has released Beta Version 17.28; Garmin has not publicly distributed the intermediary build between v17.26 and v17.28. Please note that Beta Version 17.28 is only available to download on 'non-Pro' smartwatches. As such, the Fenix 7 Pro and Epix 2 Pro must remain on v17.23 for the time being.

Despite jumping ahead two build numbers, Beta Version 17.28 makes no tangible changes. Instead, Garmin's changelog states that the update only makes 'miscellaneous improvements', stressing that these are not consumer-facing. Also, Garmin distributes Beta Version 17.28 with electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality disabled. Consequently, it seems that Garmin has a way to go before it feels ready to offer up a new stable update. Please see Garmin's post and Beta Bug Reports forum for more details on Beta Version 17.28.
