Immutable and Marblex Partner to Migrate Leading South Korean Web3 Games to zkEVM

Immutable, a platform for Ethereum gaming, announced its partnership with Marblex on Tuesday, the blockchain gaming division of Netmarble, a South Korean gaming giant. This collaboration will see the Marblex ecosystem and its flagship games ported over to Immutable zkEVM.

The games Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, A3: Still Alive, and Meta World: My City will be shifted from Klaytn’s layer-1 blockchain to Immutable zkEVM, a layer-2 network for Ethereum that uses Polygon’s zkEVM scaling technology.

“This is one of the most important partnerships we've had to date,” said Robbie Ferguson, Immutable’s president and co-founder. “South Korea is a hotbed of developer activity in Web3 gaming, and Marblex and Netmarble are leading the way.”

The partnership will also feature an “Ecosystem Boost Program,” which will allocate up to $20 million to help developers bring new titles to Marblex and Immutable.

“To maximize the reach of these experiences and ensure scalability for both existing and upcoming titles, it was essential to partner with a Web3 gaming powerhouse,” said Hong Jin Pyo, Marblex’s CEO. “That's why Immutable and their industry-leading zkEVM chain was the natural choice.”

Marblex announced a partnership with Saga, a layer-1 blockchain network, in January to help support future games and user acquisition. Saga’s network is designed to launch dedicated chains and can support games and apps on other blockchain networks.

It's unclear whether the Immutable partnership will affect these plans with Saga.
