Cardano Unfazed By Failed DDoS Attack Targeting Staked ADA

Cardano(ADA) was hit by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on Tuesday night in an attempt to steal tokens staked on the network. The attack was, however, unsuccessful and was mitigated before any damage was caused, with the network continuing to operate as usual. DDoS attack is a common method used by attackers to flood a server (or a blockchain) with spam traffic in order to prevent users from accessing connected online services and sites. FluidToken CTO @ElRaulito_cnft noted on Twitter that the attack began at block 10,487,530, with each transaction executing 194 smart contracts. The attacker spent 0.9 ADA per transaction and filled each block with several transactions in an attempt to stress the network. Cardano development firm Anastasia founder Philip Disarro said the DDoS was stopped immediately by deregistering the stake credential used by the attacker. The attack was halted shortly after Disarro's post. “DDOSer halted his attack after reading my tweet in an effort to protect his funds. Alas, they were too late and the pillaging of their funds is already in progress,” he said. ADA was up 0.4% over the past 24 hours, trading at 38 cents by Asian morning hours.
