With just months left until the 2024 U.S. election, former President Trump is looking to cement a potentially key group: the crypto community.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly in talks to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 convention, which is set to take place in Nashville, Axios reported on Monday, citing two sources familiar with the development.

Trump has been increasingly vocal in his support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, a stance that has endeared him to the crypto industry.

The former president's appearance at the Bitcoin event would come as he looks to cement the support of a potentially key group in the run-up to the 2024 election.

Bitcoin 2024 is the largest BTC event of the year and takes place right after the Republican National Convention ends. Notably, it was at the Bitcoin 2020 event in Miami where El Salvador announced its plan to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.

Given, this event could offer Trump the platform to make a major statement about his Bitcoin stance.

Moreover, Trump's appearance at the Bitcoin event would follow a meeting he had earlier this month with leading Bitcoin miners in the U.S. During the meeting, Trump discussed the importance of Bitcoin mining in the country and stated that all remaining BTC should be mined in the U.S.

At a recent rally, Trump said: “I will end Joe Biden's war on crypto. We will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in America.”

Trump's crypto-friendly stance, among other pledges, has seen him endear himself to the crypto industry, with on-chain donations to the Republican candidate being one of the outcomes.

However, while Gemini crypto exchange founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss recently donated $2 million, the exact amount donated in crypto isn't yet available.

Data from Breadcrumbs shows Trump's campaign had received roughly $60,000 in on-chain crypto donations before the Winklevoss' contribution.

Total on-chain donations currently stand at around $1,749,200 but with contributions made off-chain via exchanges to be available soon, that figure could be higher.
