LilyGo has started offering the T-Glass, a much cheaper entry point into the world of augmented reality (AR) glasses. For context, the likes of XREAL charge hundreds of dollars for their cheapest AR glasses. Specifically, the XREAL Air retails for $299 through retailers like Amazon.
In comparison, LilyGo has priced the T-Glass at a mere $41. Unsurprisingly, the company has made some to achieve such a low price point. For example, the T-Glass is closer in execution to Google Glass than contemporary AR glasses. As such, it utilises a small display that sits in front of the glasses themselves, rather than having one display for each eye.
According to LilyGo's product page, the T-Glass utilises a 1.1-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 126 x 126 pixels. While the display does not cover one's entire field of vision, it could be used for showing notifications or short-form instructions like turn-by-turn navigation prompts. Moreover, not only does the T-Glass utilise an ESP32-S3 FN4R2 micro controller, but it also has a 500 mAh battery that opens up the possibility of using the glasses wirelessly.
To that end, the T-Glass can connect to a smartphone wirelessly through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Furthermore, LilyGo has integrated a Bosch BHI260AP sensor that offers six degrees of freedom (6-DOF), with its accelerometer and gyroscope operating in three axes apiece. Please see LilyGo's website for more hardware details.
