A Nissan spokesman said that the factory jointly operated by Nissan and its partner Dongfeng Motor in Changzhou has stopped production. The factory mainly produces Qashqai SUVs, with an annual output of about 130,000 units.

Nissan’s total production in China is 1.6 million vehicles, of which the Changzhou plant accounts for 8% of its production.

Public information shows that in 2018, Nissan signed an agreement with the Changzhou Municipal Government to reorganize the Changzhou base, and Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. Changzhou Branch was established accordingly and started production in 2020. Dongfeng Nissan's Changzhou plant mainly produces Qashqai models. On November 18, 2020, the plant officially rolled off the first vehicle. However, in less than four years, Nissan’s newest factory in China announced its closure.

On June 7, Nissan Motor Company announced its China results for May 2024. Nissan's sales in China, including its two major business segments of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, were 64,233 units in May, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%.

In May 2024, Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands) sold 61,725 ​​units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%. The sales volume of the light commercial vehicle segment (Zhengzhou Nissan) was 2,508 units, a year-on-year decrease of 23.1%.

From January to May 2024, Nissan’s cumulative sales in China, including its two major business segments of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, were 286,445 units, a year-on-year decrease of 1%.
