Design recommendations have been made for the 2026 Native American dollar. The U.S. Mint's Native American $1 coin series, introduced in 2009 and authorized by Public Law 110-82, features annually changing reverse designs that honor the significant contributions of Indigenous Americans, including American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiians.

The U.S. Mint’s Native American $1 coin series will highlight the theme "Oneidas at Valley Forge" on the 2026 coin.

During the Revolutionary War, Oneida warriors traveled hundreds of miles to join George Washington’s army at Valley Forge, accompanied by a Oneida woman named Polly Cooper. Their provision of hundreds of baskets of white corn proved invaluable, as Cooper taught soldiers and their families how to correctly prepare and cook the corn, saving lives among the starving Continental troops.

Now, the Citizen Coinage Advisory Committee and the Commission of Fine Arts have approved a design for the 2026 Native American dollar that will feature the Oneida warriors and Polly Cooper. The design was chosen after two rounds of reviews by the CCAC and CFA, and will now be submitted to the Secretary of the Treasury for final approval.

The obverse of the 2026 Native American dollar will feature Glenna Goodacre’s portrayal of Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean-Baptiste. The Native American $1 coin series was introduced in 2009 and is authorized by Public Law 110-82. The coins feature annually changing reverse designs that honor the significant contributions of Indigenous Americans, including American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
