Orange Pi KunPeng Pro now avaialble globally with rare Huawei HiSilicon SoC

It is now possible to order one of Orange Pi's latest single-board computers (SBCs) globally, roughly a month after its initial debut. To recap, Orange Pi only announced the KunPeng Pro in China. However, third-party resellers have brought the SBC to global audiences, including Europe, the UK and the US.

As we have previously reported, Orange Pi does not equip the KunPeng Pro with a chipset found in many devices. Instead, it has opted for a Huawei-derived SoC that combines quad 64-bit CPU cores with an AI accelerator capable of delivering up to 8 TOPS of performance and an unnamed GPU. Specifically, the KunPeng Pro features the HiSilicon Hi1910, a chipset about which neither Orange Pi nor Huawei have provided much information.

Additionally, the SBC contains eMMC flash, LPDDR4X RAM and an M.2 2280 slot for adding an NVMe or SATA SSD. On top of that, Orange Pi has included ports like a Gigabit Ethernet connection, a pair of HDMI 2.0, and a USB Type-C connection that provides up to 65 W of power. Currently, the Orange Pi KunPeng Pro starts at $223.42 on AliExpress with 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC flash storage. Alternatively, the SBC can be configured with twice the RAM but the same amount of storage for $251.02. Ultimately, the KunPeng Pro is somewhat of a novelty outside China as other Orange Pi options will be better supported, such as the Orange Pi 5 Plus (curr. $190.99 on Amazon).
