According to previous reports, HarmonyOS NEXT (also known as pure-blood Hongmeng) will open a public beta version, and Mate60 and Pura70 are expected to be the first to try it out.

Due to the adoption of a full-stack self-developed system base and the abandonment of the traditional AOSP code, the smoothness of this pure-blood Hongmeng system has been significantly improved.

In addition, the new system only supports Hongmeng kernel and Hongmeng system applications, which also directly reduces about 40% of redundant code, further improving the smoothness and security of the system.

In fact, it has been reported before that when HarmonyOS Next (pure-blooded version of Hongmeng) is run on the Mate 70 series, the operating system's memory utilization efficiency increases three times.

In other words, on the same platform, running the independent Hongmeng platform is much more efficient (3 times higher) than running the Android system.

Huawei Rotating Chairman Xu Zhijun emphasized at the analyst conference in April this year that building the Hongmeng native application ecosystem is Huawei’s core mission in 2024.

Huawei plans to fully migrate more than 5,000 applications commonly used on smartphones in the Chinese market to the Hongmeng native operating system in the next year to achieve a high degree of unification of the operating system and application ecosystem.

Xu Zhijun firmly believes that when Huawei successfully migrates thousands of applications from the Android ecosystem to the Harmony OS, the Harmony OS will truly mature and is expected to become the third mainstream mobile operating system in the world after Apple iOS and Google Android.
