It comes at a time when COIN began thinking they were out of stories to sell and songs to shape, but I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore suggests that perhaps the band have unlocked a new chapter in their career.

“We wondered, ‘Why is it so difficult to say what you mean and mean what you say?’” says Chase Lawrence. “We said, ‘Let’s just make an album where the three of us say what we mean, mean what we say, and distill COIN to its simplest, rawest, most authentic form.’ We led with the truth.”

“We tracked the album live in RCA Studio A after continuing to write together as a band,” says Lawrence. “We’ve never made an album like that ever. To be honest, I would call this our first studio album. ‘I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore’ is about us seeing each other for who we really are and expressing ourselves as individuals— truly for the first time in this band’s history. It’s about us, like conquering fear.”

The announcement comes with new music as well, with COIN’s latest single “Strawberry Jam” now available. Produced by Gabe Simon (Dua Lipa, Noah Kahan, Lana Del Rey), the new album finds the band in their most vulnerable state and continuing to push the boundaries of alternative pop without straying from their trademark dynamic energy.
