MINISFORUM has now started selling the DEG1, an eGPU dock that it announced a few weeks ago. To recap, the DEG1 measures 270 x 175 x 41 mm. Nonetheless, its open design means that a much larger graphics card can sit atop it, as the image above shows. In comparison, contemporary eGPUs like the GPD G1 and ONEXPLAYER ONEXGPU rely on laptop dGPUs that cannot be upgraded or swapped out.
Please note that the DEG1 lacks a built-in power supply (PSU). Instead, MINISFORUM has included a 24-pin connector for connecting ATX or SFX PSUs. Additionally, the dock has a 16-pin PCIe connector that supports the PCIe 4.0 x4 protocol for a 64 GB/s peak bandwidth.
On top of that, the DEG1 has an OCuLink 4i connector for hooking up compatible devices like MINISFORUM's UM780 XTX mini-PC (curr. $569.99 on Amazon). With that being said, the dock should work with any device that has an OCuLink port. Currently, the DEG1 costs €90 in Europe, £95 in the UK and $99 in the US. Please note that MINISFORUM appears to be only offering the DEG1 in limited quantities initially, potentially until it increases the dock to its full retail price.
