A 50p coin released to mark the London 2012 Olympic Games has sold on eBay for more than £100.

The Aquatics 50p coin, which shows a person swimming underwater, sold in Manchester for £104.55.

This is more than 209x its face value and it sparked a mini bidding war with 22 bids placed on the online auction site.

The 50p coin also features the official London Olympic Games logo at the top and '50 PENCE' is printed at the bottom.

Seven Olympic 50p coins from the 2012 Games feature in the Royal Mint’s top 10 most valuable 50p coins.
