Cryptocurrency sleuth ZachXBT has been awarded $150,000 by blockchain analytics platform Arkham for revealing that controversial entrepreneur and securities fraud convict Martin Shkreli was behind the Donald Trump-themed DJT token.

According to an X post by Arkham on Wednesday, “Zach submitted definitive evidence that Martin Shkreli is the creator of the $DJT token.”

The blockchain sleuth has since confirmed receiving the bounty.

Earlier this week, the DJT token went viral after rumors surfaced that it had direct ties to former U.S. president Donald Trump, leading DJT to飆升 over 300% at one point on Tuesday.

Throughout the DJT token hype, Shkreli appeared to be actively supporting the unverified story that DJT is the official token of the Trump campaign.

Shkreli gained mainstream attention and the nickname “pharma bro” in 2015 when, as the CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals, he drastically increased the price of a life-saving medication by over 5,000%, rendering the drug much less accessible for many patients.

In 2017, Shkreli was sentenced to seven years in prison for securities fraud in a separate case and was released early in 2022.

Late Tuesday night, Arkham announced a $150,000 bounty to the first person to prove the identity of the creator of DJT, prompting well-known blockchain investigator ZachXBT to step up to the challenge.

On Wednesday, PageOne.ng reported that ZachXBT posted on X that Shkreli had sent him a direct message revealing that he created the token with “Barron,” which appears to indicate the involvement of former U.S. president Donald Trump's son Barron Trump.

Shkreli still maintains that he can prove the involvement of Trump and/or his family in the creation of DJT.
